Spotlight on Business – William J. Powell Associates, LLC

The Levittown Chamber of Commerce would like to introduce William J. Powell, President and CEO of William J. Powell Associates, L.L.C. (WJPA), located at 304 Elm Drive South, Levittown, NY 11756.  He has been a registered business since 2009 and has been a first responder and instructor for over 40 years. He is currently on the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Powell said ,“I am so happy to be part of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce for the last 4 years and regret not joining long ago.” He further said, “It is a great organization who not only cares about the businesses in Levittown, but are very committed to the residents of Levittown and works hard to help both”.

Powell grew up in Bethpage and has lived in Levittown for the last 36 years along with his wife, Maddie, who he calls his best friend and advisor.  He is proud to say that his son, Michael, just got married to his lovely wife Trish.

Powell’s business differs greatly from other businesses in the Chamber of Commerce and around Levittown.  Most businesses have clear-cut services and/or products that they offer.  WJPA, though, has a specific direction which is a little more abstract and has many facets due to the variety of what they can offer.

WJPAs main mission is to train first responders, medical personnel and civilians to be able to help others who are sick or injured and hopefully save their lives!  In addition, they manage Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Programs for businesses, libraries, houses of worship, and any other agencies who wish to utilize an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on their premise.  The PAD program is a NYS Department of Health Program where AED’s can be placed in public buildings so that anyone who is willing, can use an AED to help someone in cardiac arrest by grabbing the AED to begin treating the patient.  WJPA’s job is to come in and set these programs up, evaluate the location, suggest the optimal number of AEDs that should be used, and the location where they should be placed.  Powell says that they can supply them with the AEDs, file the required paperwork with the county and state and keep them in compliance with the NYS PAD Laws.  WJPA also will train their personnel in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), monitor their program, support any of their needs involving the PAD Program, supply them with an action plan and a licensed physician for medical oversight.  WJPA also teaches individuals or groups, first aid, home safety, elder safety, along with a variety of other safety programs.  They also conduct Active Shooter training, offering a variety of programs, from as simple as a classroom lecture, up to full risk assessment where they work with the customer to prepare active shooter policies and procedures along with an emergency action plan.

Powell said that all of the WJPA instructors are experienced and come from a first responder or emergency management background.  Their goal is to teach in a non-stressful environment, where the student’s may assimilate the knowledge presented to them.

WJPA is a local company which will travel all over Long Island as well as the five boroughs of New York City.  Many courses are taught on site, so that the customer can be comfortable in their own environment.  For information, call: (516) 242-0399, email: [email protected] and Fax: (888) 647-3690.
