Spotlight on Business August 2017 – Louise Cassano

The Levittown Chamber of Commerce would like to introduce the owner and principal of LuCas Communications, Louise Cassano who is a public relations specialist and consultant with expertise in event planning, marketing collateral and community affairs. She established her business in 1994 after a career in journalism for a community newspaper, where she covered local school districts, town and county government and rose to executive editor.

Louise’s out-of-high school career, stemming from a high school internship, was in the general insurance industry as a personal lines broker. As a mother and non-traditional student, she achieved her Associates Degree in Fine Arts from Nassau Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from SUNY Old Westbury and a Master’s degree in Communication Arts from New York Institute of Technology. Soon after, in 1994, she started her own business, in which she has helped clients promote their businesses and themselves.

Clients of LuCas Communications have included Cablevision, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Eastern Suffolk BOCES Long Island School To Career Partnership, Long Island’s United Way, Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi’s Green Levittown Campaign and various other educational, small business and not for profit organizations.

An avid Long Island volunteer and mentor to many in her profession and in business, Louise has a 26-year tenure on the board of Public Relations Professionals of Long Island as well as the board of directors of Levittown Chamber of Commerce. She has held the office of President in both organizations as well as Levittown Community Council and continues to serve other professional and community organizations. She is currently on the planning committee for Levittown’s 70th anniversary and chair of the Chamber’s Fall Festival which takes place on October 7.

Louise is also the proud recipient of numerous academic, community and professional awards including, most recently, the Town of Hempstead Pathfinder Award; and the New York State Assembly’s Woman of Distinction Award.

Louise has resided in Levittown most of her life, is married to Mauro Cassano, professor emeritus of Mathematics at Nassau Community College, boasts two successful sons and four amazing grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading and entertaining guests in her home. In preparation for retirement, she has resurrected her commitment to fine art and enjoys painting landscapes and abstracts.
