Spotlight On Business – Lois Cornibert

Lois Cornibert, Manager of Astoria Federal Saving Bank began her banking career 40 years ago, and has distinguished herself as both a successful banking professional and highly motivated community leader. Over the years her hard work and dedication earned Lois various promotions, and for the past 25 years she has managed Astoria Federal’s Levittown Branch where she is an integral part of the local community.

The Levittown Branch is located at 3105 Hempstead Turnpike. Lois’s clients can always be assured of a friendly smile and a helping hand from both her and her entire staff.

Lois serves on a number of boards including YES Community Counseling Center and Long Island Center for Independent Living. She serves on the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon committee, and is co-chair of the American Heart “Circle of Red,” a society dedicated to women’s heart health. Active in neighborhood business and civic organizations, she is also 2nd vice president of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Kiwanis Club and Lions Club of Levittown.

In keeping with Astoria Federal Savings focus on education, Lois also co-chairs the Island Trees School-to-Career program and has been instrumental in securing Astoria Federal’s funding for its initiatives. In this dynamic program, juniors and seniors in high school prepare a resume, conduct job research and are given a mock business interview which are all part of the students’ mid-term exams. Lois is receiving two awards this year, Town of Hempstead Pathfinder’s Award and 2013 recipient Nassau Boces Education Partner Award.

In her spare time Lois enjoys traveling with her husband of 45 years, Gary, spending time with her son, daughter-in-law, and her three beautiful grandchildren.
