The Levittown Chamber of Commerce would like to introduce attorney, Jon Michael Probstein who has been a member of the chamber for over 10 years, on the Board of Directors for the past 6 years and is current president. He has been a Levittown resident for 17 years since the birth of his children.
Jon wears many hats. He is a successful attorney who assists people and businesses in all civic matters, a dedicated father of 17 year old twins, Michael & Megan (who are both honor students and seniors at Division Avenue High School) and as Jon Avner, a professional actor who continues to work in stage, screen, television roles and stars with his dinner theatre group called The Killing Kompany Mystery Dinner Shows.
Jon has been practicing law since 1977. He graduated with honors from Syracuse University and St. John’s University School of Law, where he was an Editor of the St. John’s Law Review. Admitted to practice in New York and the federal courts (Southern and Eastern District) as well as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, he worked at several firms on Wall Street and Park Avenue before opening his own firm in 1982 at 230 Park Avenue, concentrating in representing individuals and companies in the entertainment field, with clients such as HBO, Virgin Records and Virgin Music.
After moving to Levittown in 2002, Jon expanded his practice with the Law Offices of Jon Michael Probstein to other areas including real estate, matrimonial and family law, corporate law and litigation. In addition, he serves as a Part 137 Arbitrator on attorney/client fee disputes and as an arbitrator in District Court, Nassau County, as well as a mediator for landlord/tenant disputes. A qualified Part 36 Guardian & Attorney in Queens, Nassau & Suffolk Counties, he is also a registered attorney with the New York State Department of Labor for Unemployment Insurance claims and an accredited attorney for claims for veterans’ benefits before the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Jon regularly performs pro bono work for the Volunteer Lawyers Project – Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, Inc., The Safe Center (formerly the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence) and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he is also a member of the Lawyers Assistance Program Committee and the recipient of the 2015 Thomas Maligno Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. He was recently sworn in for a three year term on the Arbitration Panel of the Eastern District Federal Court.
