Mobilegeddon

Mobilegeddon??

Perhaps you have heard of this term lately? And you might have ignored it, thinking it is just hype for some game or movie. Unfortunately this is not the case.
As of April 21st Google will increase the weight its algorithm attaches to a website’s “Mobile Friendliness”. And now you are thinking “So – what does this have to do with MOBILEGEDDON??

What this means is if Google finds your website unfriendly to smart phones and tablets your ranking or Google listing will lower significantly. Website ranking is crucial to businesses both large and small, as searchers are increasing turning to mobile platforms. We all know that most people choose from the top of the listings. Therefore, you’ll want to take this warning seriously especially if you pay for Google Adwords and your website is more than 2 years old.

For additional information there’s a good Newsday article (April 7th, 2015) explaining it. Click Here for a .pdf of that article.

Google has a simple user friendly test form to determine if your site needs to be fixed. It can be found at https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
