The Levittown Chamber of Commerce (LCoC) is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to three (3) high school seniors who will be attending a college, university, or technical school. The scholarship is open to seniors who are attending either General Douglas MacArthur High School, Division Avenue High School, or Island Trees High School. There will be one (1) scholarship given to a student graduating from each of the three mentioned schools.
- The Debbie Ryan Memorial $1,000.00 Scholarship is going to a General Douglas MacArthur High School student
- LuCas Communications: $1,000.00 scholarship going to a Division Avenue High School student
- The Joey Foundation & William J. Powell Associates, L.L.C. $1,000.00 Scholarship going to an Island Trees High School student
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Currently be enrolled as a senior in one of the three (3) public high schools listed above, graduating in 2024.
- Complete and sign this scholarship application and packet, and email it, along with the supporting documents listed below, to [email protected] no later than March 1, 2024.
- Submit a typed 500 to 600-word essay and complete the student activity section of the application as described below;
- Submit written proof of acceptance to a college/university or technical school of the applicant’s choice, which begins within one (1) year of your high school graduation;
- Submit a copy of your full year transcript for your grade 11th year and the fall semester of your 12th year, listing all subjects taken and the grades for each. 12th years grades may come from your student portal.

The following are directions on preparing your scholarship application, including the essay requirements and filling out your inschool and out-of-school activities and employment information.
Essay Requirements: Your typed essay must be at least 500 words and no more than 600 words. The essay should tell us about yourself, and it should include, but is not limited to, descriptions of your in-school and after-school activities and employments, how these and your high school experiences have shaped you into the person you are today, and how it has directed you towards the goals and the major you have decided on for college. Also, tell us about any leadership roles you may have had, either during your inschool activities or after school during your high school years.
Student Activity Section: This section is where you will indicate what in-school activities and after-school activities/employment you were involved with. We have identified six categories of activities. They are:
- Student Government
- Honor Societies
- Clubs
- Sports
- Activities
- After-School Activities / Employment – These refer to after-school activities or employment that are not related to any inschool activity. For example, as a member of the Key Club, you are doing a food drive with Long Island Cares; this cannot be used as an after-school activity, but you can write about it in your essay. Employment will also be placed here, where you will indicate your place of employment, your job (indicate any supervisory position), and the number of hours you work each week.
Filling out the Activity Section: Use the following directions to complete the activities section:
- Place your name on the top of each page where indicated.
- All of the activities in each section are listed in alphabetical order to make it easier for you to find them. If you don’t see your activity in one category, check the other categories to see if it is there. If you don’t find it at all, place it in the blank lines located at the end of the category you believe it should be in.
- When you find your activity, place an “X” in the box to the right of the activity for each of the grades (9, 10, 11, 12) in which you participated in that activity. If you are in a leadership role (e.g., president, vice president, shift supervisor, manager, etc.), place an “L” in the box instead of an “X”.
- At the attestation located at the end of the activities section, read the attestation, place your name on the appropriate line, and then sign and date the attestation.
- Save a copy of the scholarship application and supporting documentation on your personal computer.
- Email your entire application packet (Application, In/Out of School/Employment Activity Sheets, Grades, Essay, and College Acceptance Letter) to [email protected] no later than March 1, 2024. You will receive an acknowledgement from the Chamber of Commerce when we receive your application packet.
